It starts to look like people have forgotten that the United States was set up as a government "by and for the people" (to quote the Gettysburg Address). In our country the people are the government and we elect people to "represent" us. That's why they are called "representatives."
Look at the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution and you will see that I am correct.
" We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. "
This means that if people don't like the laws or the system, then they have the power to change it. Being afraid of the government is ridiculous, because the U.S. was set up as a representative democracy, a democratic republic. The people are the government.
